Although our episode of TLC’s Property Ladder has not aired yet, I’m 100% certain I’ll never do reality TV again. Here are a few reasons why the filming of Property Ladder was not worth the 15 minutes of fame:
- Long Hours - Hundreds of hours of filming for a one our episode.
- Very Poor Compensation - $1,000 split three ways and furniture staging for one month (about $1,500).
- A constant focus on the negative things that happen (and we had plenty).
- Snarky Host - Kirsten Kemp.
- Lack of Reality - Almost everything was reenacted or dramatized.
Although I must say it was quite an experience and something I’ll never forget. Should be a good laugh.

You’ve finally confirmed what everybody seems to know - that TLC does provide the staging. Too bad it’s only for one month in this slow market. I’m looking forward to seeing your episode and hope you guys don’t look too foolish…but it seems to be the formula for this show.
Good luck selling the house!
Snarky host? you dickjobs didn’t take her advice (which was spot-on, by the way), and ended up not being able to sell that house, which may or may not sink into the backyard.
also, that chris guy, if he wants me to, i am available to re-arrange his face.
but the floors look nice.
To the second commenter
Who the hell are you??? And why do you want to rearrange my friends face?? Since you didnt post your real name Im guessing you are a miserable coward with low self-esteem. Let me know if Im right.
Thank you for the aweful comments and yes the floors do look nice.
PS- you are right, we didnt sell the house. We have a renter that is covering our mortgage for the next two years.
I hope you find your own way in life. Best of luck.
David,
Just saw the episode.. your comments are spot on with the host being “snarky”. She is always that way, the dramatic eye rolls and such. Drives my wife crazy.
Anyway, more power to you guys. Took a chance and probably learned a lot. Best yet, it appears you remained friends after all of it.
Keep reaching for your dreams, you’ll get there one day.
